Don’t Cheat on Sleep!

It costs nothing, everyone wants more of it, but finding time to get it seems impossible. Sleep. It’s one of our most basic survival mechanisms that reboots the body’s motherboard each night. Without it, we can’t survive. In fact, studies show that sleep deprivation is linked to many diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, depression and Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Ken Redcross says without proper sleep, your body’s immune system is more susceptible to infection, making it difficult to fight off illness. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends adults get 7 hours of sleep each night, but Dr. Redcross says if this is impossible for you, there is a way to cheat the ‘sleep system’ and still reap the health benefits. Dr. Redcross joins Late Night host Mark Alyn to dicuss his four ‘sleep cheats’ that will not only improve quality of sleep but help the body ward off serious illnesses and diseases that can result from lack of sleep.
