Groundbreaking Environmental Medicine Research Shows Sound & Surprising Results
Using natural means to maintain good health is a basic human right – and is an age-old concept. Consider that Christopher Columbus gave his sailing crew oranges to prevent scurvy. Other cultures around the world still rely heavily on natural healing methods.
But with the introduction of synthetic medicines in the late 1800s, physicians began to change course. Pharmaceutical companies seized the opportunity to manufacture them on a massive scale.
Today, with skyrocketing costs and dangerous side effects associated with many medications, patients want information about – and access to – natural treatment options.
Sylvie Beljanski is on a mission to accomplish that. Her passion stems from groundbreaking research on environmental medicine by her late father, Mirko Beljanski. His early findings as a biochemist at the Pasteur Institute in France focused on the healing power of botanical extracts.
The most famous recipient was President Francois Mitterrand. Shortly after his first term, Mitterand was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. He suffered secretly through grueling and ineffective chemotherapy and radiation but eventually, turned to plant-based therapy – and defied all conventional odds. Mitterand finished out two terms in office – the longest tenure of any French President – then lived on into retirement.
Despite intense controversy within the established medical community, leading researchers around the world took notice. If botanical extracts could improve outcomes of prostate cancer patients, what about the really tough cases? Could these treatments – in combination with other medicines – be effective in combatting super-aggressive diseases, such as ovarian or pancreatic cancers?
High-profile, peer-reviewed studies show profound results:
- One extract that comes from an African plant that looks similar to a red current has shown to be effective combatting ovarian cancer cells both alone and in combination with chemotherapy. The combination therapy decreased tumor size in animal experiments by as much as 90 percent!
- Another from a tree in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest wards off prostate cancer. Studies on male patients show dramatic improvement in their urinary symptoms: they have less frequency and are not getting up at as often at night.
- And just recently announced: that same extract is under early review for the treatment of the most common and aggressive brain tumor – glioblastoma.
Today, through her work at the non-profit Beljanski Foundation, Sylvie continues her family legacy. Collaborating with top-tier researchers at Columbia University Medical Center, University of California-San Francisco and the University of Kansas Medical Center, she raises awareness about effective, evidence-based botanical treatments.
Sylvie joins Late Night Health for a lively discussion on plant-based foods and medicine. She encourages listeners to write to Support the efforts of U.S. Congressman Jason Chaffetz who is backing H.R. 1364 – the House Bill Free Speech About Science Act.
